INTRODUCTION

The UWASNET Resource Centre exists to serve as a central hub for knowledge exchange, documentation, and learning within Uganda’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector. By accessing and using this platform, users agree to engage respectfully with the content, purpose, and systems that underpin the Resource Centre. The platform is open to Civil Society Organisations, government institutions, development partners, academics, and citizens who seek to contribute to or draw from the collective knowledge supporting inclusive WASH service delivery in Uganda. These terms and conditions govern all interactions, use, and sharing of content within the Resource Centre.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS

Unless otherwise stated, the intellectual property rights of the materials uploaded or displayed on the Resource Centre belong to the individual authors, institutions, or organisations that created them. UWASNET does not claim ownership over third-party content hosted on the platform. The Resource Centre functions primarily as a conduit through which curated knowledge is preserved and shared with the broader sector.

Content may be freely accessed for non-commercial use such as policy research, learning, advocacy, or internal programme improvement. However, users are expected to respect the intellectual property rights associated with each resource. This includes proper citation, refraining from unauthorised redistribution, and seeking written permission from the rights holder if one intends to translate, adapt, or use content in public-facing or commercial projects. UWASNET may support users in locating copyright holders upon request but does not grant usage permissions on behalf of other entities.

USE OF CONTENT

The Resource Centre provides access to documents, images, videos, and tools intended to improve sector coordination, learning, and decision-making. While users are welcome to engage with and share the content within their networks, all use must align with the spirit of collaborative development and integrity. Any reproduction or referencing of documents must credit the original creators.

Users are not permitted to alter content in a way that distorts its message, misattributes authorship, or extracts personal or institutional value without transparency. UWASNET does not tolerate plagiarism or any act of content manipulation that undermines the authenticity or credibility of the materials submitted by its partners.

IMAGERY, CONSENT AND SAFEGUARDING

UWASNET upholds safeguarding as a key principle in its communications and documentation processes. Any images, videos, or audio recordings published on the Resource Centre must be used in compliance with the consent of the individuals portrayed. Where minors, vulnerable persons, or sensitive contexts are involved, the utmost care is taken to protect identity and dignity. Content that may pose a risk to individuals, communities, or organisations will be edited, obscured, or excluded entirely. In cases where appropriate imagery is unavailable or consent cannot be verified, AI-generated visuals or abstract illustrations may be used to represent ideas without compromising privacy. UWASNET retains the discretion to review and remove any imagery that violates safeguarding standards.

PERMISSIONS AND REUSE REQUESTS

Individuals or institutions interested in reusing or adapting content hosted on the Resource Centre for wider distribution, publishing, or programmatic use must submit a formal request to the content owner. UWASNET may assist by providing contact details or facilitating communication where necessary but does not grant permissions for third-party content.

To submit a permissions request, users should provide the name of the document, its URL on the platform, the intended use, and the target audience. Such measures ensure that the Resource Centre remains a respectful and transparent space for knowledge sharing.

DISCLAIMER OF ENDORSEMENT

The presence of a resource within the UWASNET Resource Centre does not imply endorsement by UWASNET or any of its affiliates. The views, findings, and interpretations expressed within hosted documents remain those of the respective authors or organisations. The platform is designed to reflect diverse voices and approaches in the WASH sector. While UWASNET strives to ensure content quality and relevance, it does not bear responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of individual submissions. Users are encouraged to assess the appropriateness of each document for their specific needs.

CONTENT REMOVAL AND TAKEDOWN POLICY

UWASNET respects the rights of authors, publishers, and subjects of all content hosted on the platform. If an individual or organisation identifies a resource they believe infringes upon their rights, misrepresents them, or requires removal for any reason, they are encouraged to contact UWASNET directly. All takedown requests should clearly state the name of the resource, the URL where it appears, the reason for removal, and the requester’s relationship to the content.

Upon review, UWASNET will determine the appropriate action, which may include removal, replacement, or redaction of the concerned material. Our team commits to responding to such concerns with urgency and sensitivity.

DATA PROTECTION AND PRIVACY

UWASNET handles user data with confidentiality and in accordance with applicable data protection laws. Information collected through the Resource Centre, such as names, emails, or organisational affiliations, is used solely for administrative purposes like newsletter distribution, account creation, or event registration. No personal data is sold or shared with third parties without explicit consent. Users may request the deletion or amendment of their personal data at any time by contacting UWASNET. The Resource Centre does not use tracking cookies or collect sensitive personal information without consent.

The success and sustainability of the Resource Centre rely on continuous feedback from its users. UWASNET welcomes suggestions for improving the functionality, design, or scope of the platform.
